British Life Quiz

Ok, so I've started to find the little niches of the English Language that are somewhat different. I'll post the answers later.

1. if i am wanting to buy "trainers," what type of store should I go to?
2. If i am queing in the UK, what am I doing in America?
3. there is a sign that say "to let," what is it most likely in front of?
4. if I bum a fag, what do I need?
5. how much do all museums in london cost?
6. where is the tube?
7. i've just bought an oyster card, what can I now do much more easily?
8. what is ASDA the british equivalent of?
9. what are british cents called?
10. is London awesome? (the answer to this is yes)

  1. Isn't the common slang Awesome...i've been in australia 2months now and i still am learning all types of new words for things...make sure you keep a master list because we can compare when we all get back! :)

    3. An apartment/house for rent.
    4. A lighter to light the cigarette you just got.
    5. Free.
    6. Underground.
    7. Travel.
    8. Walmart? Or some other similar chain.
    9. I didn't think they had a cent? Maybe pence?

  4. Or I'm just awesome and have watched enough Monty Python, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Sean of the Dead, and other various British humor to know what each of those are.

    I'll admit, trainers was very obscure in my knowledge, and the only reason I'd head of the Oyster Card was because I was looking up UK stuff because I was thinking about studying over there.
